Founded in 1935, the Federation of Real Estate Enterprises, or Fédération des Entreprises Immobilières (FEI), unites together real estate operators who build, renovate, rent and sell a range of properties on a daily basis, including shopping centres, as well as offices, business premises, hotels, warehouses, housing, student accommodation and retirement homes, in France, in Europe and internationally.

Today, real estate companies are building and renovating parts of cities, spaces for living and socialising, with a diversification moving towards more healthcare, culture and leisure.

Over the past years, FEI members have collectively taken on the FEI pledges concerning strategic matters, such as reducing energy consumption and, more generally, promoting socially responsible behaviour

They have also made very significant individual pledges, for example:

  • Reducing energy consumption in major shopping centres by at least 30% in 24 months;

  • Increasing staff training budgets with a view to facilitating and accelerating the environmental and digital transitions;

  • Incorporating circular economy targets systematically for all new build or extension projects, ensuring ex ante that building materials will be suitable for reuse at a later stage;

Upgrading real estate company’s websites to make their job offers more visible and establish shopping centres as more attractive workplaces.
