Rimi, a member of ICA Gruppen, takes a proactive role in both its supply chain and the communities it serves. Its sustainability work emphasises five key areas: locality, quality, health, diversity, and the environment, with impactful initiatives in each area.

* Rimi aims to halve food waste by 2025 through innovative markdown solutions and increased food donations to support communities in need.

* As part of ICA Gruppen, Rimi commits to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2050.

* Rimi aims to achieve a 30% reduction in the customer climate impact - carbon footprint of sold food by 2030 compared to 2022 levels.

* Rimi aims to reach 100% recyclable food plastic packaging by the end of 2025. To achieve the result, Rimi collaborates closely with suppliers. RecyClass tool is used as guidance for advancements of plastic products recyclability.

* Rimi aims at a 24% reduction in energy use per square meter by 2030, having already achieved a 7% cut in CO₂ emissions and 9% in electricity consumption in 2023 by transitioning to natural refrigerants and optimising cooling systems. An Energy Strategy 2030 has been developed.

Targets and defined timelines are in place, are being monitored and Rimi annually publishes progress updates to ensure transparency and accountability in actions taken.
