In Rabobank’s vision, future-proof food systems provide access to sufficient, balanced, and nutritious food for a growing global population, produced within the planetary boundaries for land, water, air, and biodiversity. Optimization and balancing trade-offs in food systems are enabled by nature-based pricing—a price for food that accounts for the costs of what we withdraw from and emit to the planet. Furthermore, future-proof systems operate efficiently and effectively, while risks and rewards are shared equitably throughout the value chain.
