The BlueTour project, funded by the EU’s Creative Europe programme, aims to strengthen the capacity of grassroots cultural organizations and emerging creative practitioners to promote sustainable cultural tourism in three Mediterranean coastal areas: Ancona (Italy), Lesvos (Greece), and Faro (Portugal). Addressing the unique challenges of these regions, such as environmental threats and the need for innovative tourism practices, BlueTour seeks to equip participants with 21st-century skills that integrate blue innovation with sustainable tourism. The project focuses on public awareness campaigns and socially engaged arts activities to encourage environmentally friendly practices, while also developing community-generated guide maps and artworks that showcase local heritage. BlueTour will begin on 1 January 2023 and conclude on 31 December 2024.
