The TOURSUS-EU project, funded by the Horizon Europe (HORIZON) programme, is dedicated to advancing sustainable tourism across the EU through a quantitative approach. Led by Iscte – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, the project focuses on evaluating the socio-economic impacts of mass tourism in UNESCO World Heritage cities — including Venice, Lisbon, and Split — using techniques such as dynamic panel models, big data analysis, and multi-criteria decision analysis. Running from July 2023 to July 2025, the project aims to develop innovative methodologies for measuring and promoting tourism sustainability, along with actionable recommendations to guide tourism management practices across Europe.
