On February 1st, 2023, the I-STARS (Island Sustainable Tourism Action through Resilient SMEs) project, led by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), embarks on a transformative journey aimed at empowering at least 125 tourism SMEs across Cyprus, Greece, Ireland, Spain, and Italy towards recovery and sustainability by 2030. Targeting island-based SMEs heavily reliant on tourism and significantly impacted by the COVID-19 crisis, the project addresses the pressing need for sustainable practices in tourism, considering the adverse environmental and social impacts of uncontrolled tourism growth on local communities and natural resources. The project aims to equip these SMEs with the necessary skills, knowledge, and financial resources to foster sustainability and resilience, thereby contributing to the development of a more resilient, innovative, and sustainable tourism ecosystem.
