We will continue to make the Open Food Network platform available to all countries globally. The platform enables farmers and growers to sell directly to eaters and buyers. It also enables the creation of community food enterprises of all kinds which then build short food supply networks. A community refers to a group of individuals who take collective responsibility for the growing, producing, distributing, and consuming of food within a local area. We aim to establish 10,000 such communities across Europe by 2030. These communities can range in size from eight households committing to buy vegetables from a single market garden, to thousands of shoppers, businesses, schools, and hospitals purchasing from a large regional food hub sourcing from over a hundred producers.
