On 13 October 2026, the Italian packaging consortium CONAI opened a €500,000 call. It helps member companies pay for certifications that back up the environmental claims on their packaging. Applications are open until 15 December 2026.

The call is open to CONAI members that produce or use packaging and hold a valid certification for it. The certificate must come from an independent third party and be based on a public standard. It must stay valid at least until 31 December 2026. The packaging must be on the Italian market. Covered materials are steel, aluminium, compostable bioplastic, paper, wood, plastic and glass.

Eligible costs are issuing, renewing or maintaining the certification, including audits. Consulting and training are not covered. Support is up to 100% of eligible costs for SMEs and 70% for large companies, capped at €20,000 per company. Applications are assessed as they arrive, within the funds available.

The call comes soon after the rules on environmental claims began to apply on 27 September. Italy transposed them with Legislative Decree No 30 of 20 February 2026. The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation is also in the background. Own-brand packaged goods sold in Italy fall within its reach, where the seller is a CONAI member.
