Why this matters

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are at the centre of Europe’s industrial transformation. New technologies such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, and IoT-enabled platforms are reshaping production, business models, and supply chains. However, many SMEs still face difficulties in choosing the right technologies, investing in skills, and building the expertise needed to remain competitive.

Sectors in focus

Industries such as personal protective equipment, textile care, and medical devices illustrate these challenges particularly well. Long-established and highly regulated, they now face growing demands for traceability, automation, regulatory compliance, and sustainability.

About the workshop

Organised by Small Business Standards (SBS) in collaboration with DIGITAL SME, SME Safety, and the German Textile Cleaning Association (DTV), this workshop will provide a platform for SME representatives, technology and standards experts, and policymakers to exchange perspectives on skills and technologies driving digital transformation.
