The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, Somnigroup International Inc.’s acquisition of sole control of US-based Leggett & Platt, Incorporated. The transaction covers activities including the design, manufacturing and distribution of bedding products, furniture, flooring and textile products.
The Commission concluded that the transaction would not raise competition concerns, given the companies’ limited individual and combined market positions. The case, registered as M.12501, was assessed under the Commission’s simplified merger review procedure.
The decision forms part of the Commission’s review of concentrations under the EU Merger Regulation, assessing whether proposed transactions could significantly affect competition in relevant markets.
