The European Commission has launched a call for evidence to gather stakeholder views on the future role of Joint Undertakings in the European Union’s next long-term research and innovation programme, Framework Programme 10 (FP10). The consultation aims to assess how these public-private partnerships have contributed to addressing societal and industrial challenges, and how they could be further strengthened to support Europe’s competitiveness, innovation capacity, and green and digital transitions.
The call invites input from businesses, research organisations, universities, public authorities, industry associations, and other stakeholders with experience of Joint Undertakings. Feedback will help the Commission evaluate their effectiveness, governance, impact, and added value in delivering collaborative research and innovation. The consultation will also explore how Joint Undertakings can better support strategic priorities, strengthen industrial competitiveness, accelerate the uptake of innovative technologies, and contribute to future EU policy objectives. According to the Commission, the evidence gathered will inform decisions on whether and how Joint Undertakings should be included within Framework Programme 10.
The initiative forms part of the Commission’s broader preparations for the next EU research and innovation framework, ensuring that future programmes reflect stakeholder experience and evolving policy priorities. Interested organisations are encouraged to contribute their views through the consultation before the deadline on 14 July 2026.
