Recycling Europe hosted a high-level event on the Circular Economy Act (CEA) that drew together policymakers, industry leaders, non-governmental organisations and sector experts to discuss how Europe can turn ambitious circularity goals into practical and scalable industrial solutions.
In her opening remarks, Jessika Roswall, European Commissioner, emphasised that the circular transition depends not only on legislation but also on strong collaboration across sectors. Key points of discussion included strengthening markets for recycled materials, improving collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), accelerating end-of-waste recognition, and aligning producers and recyclers from product design onwards. Panels explored how the CEA can support circular value chains, reduce demand for virgin materials, and build a resilient, competitive European industrial base.
A second panel focused on the strategic role of high-quality recycled metals for Europe’s industrial resilience and autonomy, highlighting technical feasibility, product design, and the need for harmonised value-chain approaches. The event closed with a shared conclusion that Europe’s circular economy transition can only succeed with genuine, cross-industry cooperation and sustained dialogue among stakeholders.
