The European Commission has approved a second package of seven sectoral proposals to complete the framework for the EU’s long-term budget covering 2028-2034. This move finalises key sector allocations across areas including industry, cohesion, migration, defence, border management, and international partnerships.
These proposals set out detailed objectives, expected impacts, and investment needs in each sector, preparing for negotiations with the European Parliament and Council. The aim is to ensure the EU budget delivers on priorities like competitiveness, strategic autonomy, and sustainable growth.
The proposals will now be discussed by the European Parliament and the Council, paving the way for timely negotiations on the 2028-2034 budget. Importantly, this second package completes the set of sectoral proposals for the EU’s long-term budget, ensuring that all major policy areas are addressed in preparation for the next phase of talks.
