Il Vestito Verde has announced the launch of two new services designed to promote more sustainable consumption patterns in the fashion sector: a nationwide repair map and an expanded database of sustainable brands. These tools are integrated into the platform’s broader digital ecosystem, which aims to simplify access to responsible fashion options and support more informed consumer choices.
The repair map, integrated with Google Maps, brings together 9000+ tailors, cobblers, haberdasheries and donation and collection points across Italy. By making these services easily accessible, the initiative seeks to remove practical barriers to garment repair and reuse, encouraging consumers to extend the lifespan of their clothing and reduce reliance on fast fashion consumption models.
The repair map builds on a previous mapping effort focused on sustainable, vintage, and second-hand stores, which has already exceeded three million views, highlighting a growing demand for practical tools that support responsible fashion consumption.
In parallel, the updated database of sustainable brands has been significantly expanded and enhanced. It now includes detailed filtering options based on product categories, price ranges, certifications, and specific sustainability attributes, such as the use of recycled materials, artisanal production processes, or renewable energy. Importantly, the platform also incorporates more accessible price segments, reinforcing the principle that ethical fashion should not be limited to premium consumers.
These new services are introduced in a broader policy context marked by increasing regulatory attention to product durability and repairability. In this sense, the initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to foster a cultural shift toward more circular consumption patterns.
