Allbirds has officially completed its transformation into Smartbird, a new company focused on artificial intelligence infrastructure and cloud computing services. The rebranding represents the final step in a strategic shift announced earlier this year, as the former footwear company moves away from its original business model and enters the technology sector.
Alongside the name change, Smartbird has appointed Nadia Carlsten as President and Chief Executive Officer. Carlsten brings extensive experience in advanced computing and artificial intelligence, having previously held leadership roles at Amazon Web Services and other technology organizations.
The company aims to provide AI infrastructure solutions for mid-sized businesses that require dedicated computing capacity and greater control over data and security. According to the company, this market segment remains underserved by larger cloud providers, creating opportunities for more specialized offerings.
The announcement was positively received by investors, with shares rising significantly following confirmation of the rebranding and leadership transition. Smartbird has also expanded its financing resources to support future growth and infrastructure development.
The move reflects a broader trend in which companies seek to reposition themselves around artificial intelligence as demand for computing power and AI services continues to increase across industries.
