The Clean Industrial Deal is the EU’s plan to help industry become climate-neutral, circular, and globally competitive. It targets energy- and resource-intensive sectors while supporting companies of all sizes through four key measures:
- Clean Energy Infrastructure: The EU is accelerating the rollout of renewables—such as solar, wind, and green hydrogen—close to industrial zones. This will improve grid access, reduce energy prices, and support shared energy solutions across industrial clusters.
- Investment in Net-Zero Technologies: Public-private funding instruments aim to reduce the upfront costs of switching to clean technologies—such as electric furnaces, efficient motors, or carbon capture systems—making it easier to modernise operations.
- Skills and Workforce Transition: Dedicated training programmes help companies equip their workforce with green and digital skills, including energy optimisation, circular design, and automation for low-carbon production.
- Simplified Permitting and Innovation Support: Procedures for upgrading equipment or installing clean tech are being streamlined. Businesses can also benefit from pilot funding, innovation testbeds, and cross-sector partnerships.
The Deal is designed to make industrial decarbonisation a competitive advantage—grounded in practical support for real-world transition.
