In 2022, Cyprus residents spent the most on outbound tourism, with total expenditures reaching EUR 1,661.0 million. Out of this, EUR 1,394.5 million (84.0%) was allocated to outbound tourism, primarily on transport, while only EUR 266.5 million (16.0%) was spent on domestic tourism, mainly on food and drinks in cafes and restaurants. This marks a shift from 2019, when total expenditures were EUR 1,919.7 million, with EUR 1,708.7 million (89.0%) spent on outbound tourism and EUR 210.9 million (11.0%) on domestic tourism.
