According to Spain's National Statistics Institute (INE), overnight stays in non-hotel tourist accommodation (apartments, campsites, rural tourism and hostels) exceeded 22.5 million in July 2026, up 0.9% year-on-year. Growth was driven almost entirely by resident travellers (+4.2%), while non-resident overnight stays fell 2.2%. Rural tourism accommodation stood out as the strongest performer, up 3.9% overall, with both resident (+4.6%) and non-resident (+2.7%) demand growing, and the Balearic Islands recording the highest occupancy (69.0%). Holiday apartments were flat overall, with the UK remaining the leading source market (30.1% of overnight stays) and Canarias the top destination despite a 4.4% decline there. Prices continued to rise faster than volumes: the Tourist Apartment Price Index and Campsite Price Index both grew by over 6% year-on-year, while the Rural Tourism Price Index rose a more modest 1.5%.
