Food tourism is becoming an increasingly important part of sustainable destination development in the Baltic Sea Region. It links local traditions, creativity and cooperation, helping destinations to offer authentic experiences that connect people with regional culture and culinary heritage. The upcoming webinar Food Tourism in the Baltic Sea Region, taking place online on 19 November 2025 from 9:30 to 11:00 CET, will explore these ideas in depth.
The event will open with an introduction from the coordinators of EUSBSR Policy Area Tourism, highlighting the role of gastronomy and local products in sustainable tourism strategies. A keynote presentation by representatives of the Culinary Heritage Network will focus on the history and impact of regional food cooperation across the Baltic Sea area.
Speakers from Krinova Incubator & Science Park will present practical tools for developing food tourism through international collaboration, while experts from Visit Finland Academy will share examples of local product development and community engagement from Eastern Finland. The agenda also features regional perspectives from small and medium-sized enterprises active in food tourism, showing how local producers and hospitality businesses integrate sustainability and innovation into their work.
The webinar will conclude with an open discussion and Q&A session, offering a space for knowledge exchange between participants from across the region.
Organised by EUSBSR Policy Area Tourism together with the BASCIL Interreg Baltic Sea Region project, the event aims to strengthen cooperation, share good practices and inspire future initiatives connecting food, heritage and sustainable tourism.
