The European Maritime Transport Environmental Report 2025, published jointly by the European Maritime Safety Agency and the European Environment Agency in 2025, provides a comprehensive overview of the environmental impact of the maritime transport sector in the EU. It analyses various environmental pressures, including greenhouse gas emissions, air pollution, underwater noise, biodiversity loss and marine litter. It also assesses the progress made in recent years and highlights the measures needed to further reduce the sector's environmental footprint in line with the European Green Deal. The report calls for continued action and increased innovation to achieve sustainable maritime transport in Europe.
