The European Federation for Transport and Environment AISBL’s November 2024 report explores the financial requirements for achieving sustainable transport across Europe. It focuses on six critical areas for transport decarbonisation: aviation, shipping, road charging infrastructure, electric cars, domestic battery production, and the electrification of heavy-duty vehicles. The study provides a detailed cost analysis and recommendations for public and private funding necessary to achieve net-zero emissions in the transport sector by 2050. Additionally, it proposes ways to enhance the efficiency of the EU’s financing landscape for transport infrastructure, including roads, railways, and electricity grids.
