In April 2025, the Greentour project—supported by the Interreg Sudoe Programme—published a new article in the MDPI journal Sustainability, introducing an innovative tool designed to assess the environmental impact of tourism at both the destination and establishment levels. Using nine key indicators, the tool evaluates a broad range of environmental effects across major tourism subsectors, including accommodation, food and beverage services, leisure activities, transport, and waste management.

The tool generates automated reports using aggregated data to support policy-making and strategic planning. After being tested in four locations across Spain and Portugal, it is now freely available and offers an intuitive interface tailored for decision-making by both public and private entities.
