The Lithuania-Poland “engagement” initiative culminates with the publication of a final report (short version), reflecting the outcomes and insights from the cross-border collaboration. This programme tackled shared challenges and opportunities between the two nations—particularly in areas such as regional development, infrastructure connectivity, cultural exchange, tourism and environmental cooperation.

The report highlights the project’s core achievements, including enhanced institutional coordination, strengthened cross-border networks, and the implementation of pilot actions and capacity building for local stakeholders. Several thematic strands—such as sustainable tourism, joint innovation, mobility and cultural projects—feature prominently in the document. The narrative highlights how joint efforts have helped align policies more effectively, stimulate local economies, and foster a shared identity and heritage among border regions.

Several challenges are also documented: administrative and regulatory barriers, differing governance systems, limited financial resources at local levels, and varying levels of stakeholder capacity. The report notes that overcoming these obstacles required flexibility, shared learning and sustained engagement across municipal, regional and national levels.

Recommendations in the report call for the establishment of long-term institutional mechanisms to maintain cross-border cooperation, the further alignment of legal and administrative systems, continuous support for joint innovation projects, and dedicated funding channels for the development of border regions. The document also proposes replicating successful pilots elsewhere and scaling partnership models that proved effective.

The report is published in English (short version) and provides a readable overview of the project’s scope, methodology and impact. For those seeking to delve into the complete data, case studies, and outputs, the full report is available on the website of the Lithuania-Poland cooperation programme here: https://lietuva-polska.eu/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/final-report_ENG_18072025_FINAL-short.pdf
