The "Good Practices for Sustainable Cruise Tourism. Appendix 1: Fiches of Good Practices in Sustainable Cruise Tourism" document, prepared for the European Commission in 2023, outlines exemplary initiatives across European ports and cities. It features case studies such as onshore power supply at Cruise Terminal Altona, the ESI at-berth module in various EU ports, etc. Each case study identifies objectives, impacts on stakeholders, contributions to the EU Green Deal, and key implementation considerations, promoting sustainability within the cruise tourism sector. The practices are evaluated from a sustainability standpoint, encompassing environmental, economic, and social impacts, such as reducing waste disposal in open waters and enhancing economic efficiency through streamlined waste processing operations in ports.
