PANTOUR has developed the Tourism Skills Lab, a free online platform that lets tourism workers, job seekers, employers and training providers compare a person's or role's skills against a shared skills matrix to identify gaps and suggest relevant training.

The platform is built around a matrix of 35 core tourism skills, developed under the earlier NTG project, mapped against sub-sector, business size, task and hierarchy level, covering accommodation, food and beverage, travel agencies, destination management and tourist attractions. Job seekers can build a skills profile, match it against specific roles, and get pointed toward relevant training; employers can define their own skill requirements for a position and match them against candidates; and training providers can align their existing course materials to the same framework.

The platform is free and available at tourismskillslab.eu, with a short registration step required to access most functions. According to Klaus Ehrlich, who leads its development, the tool is designed to eventually generate real-time skills intelligence as more users adopt it, and the team plans to integrate it into a future FuTourAlliance skills and intelligence platform alongside links to systems including the Transition Pathway for Tourism and Cedefop. A live demo webinar was scheduled for 28 May 2026, with registration by email.
