The European Commission has opened a public consultation aimed at assessing the effectiveness of existing EU legislation concerning airport charges, slot distribution, and ground handling services. This initiative invites input from citizens, professionals, and experts to determine if the Slot Regulation, Groundhandling Directive, and Airport Charges Directive remain effective. As factors like market consolidation, capacity challenges, and environmental priorities evolve, it is crucial to evaluate the impact these rules have on pricing, connectivity, and service quality. This feedback will guide potential simplifications and reduce administrative burdens, ensuring the EU’s aviation sector remains competitive, resilient, and sustainable. The consultation, accessible via the Have Your Say portal in all official EU languages, will remain open until October 28, 2025.
