In the scenic Green Karst region of Slovenia, FLOWS Green Karst is spearheading a revolution in tourism management by harnessing human-centric digital innovation. Launched in collaboration with Arctur and RRA Green Karst, this initiative employs IoT footfall sensors and multi-source data analytics to monitor visitor movements along hiking trails and cultural sites. By offering tourism providers and destination managers real-time insights and decision-making tools, FLOWS empowers them to dynamically reroute tourists, mitigate environmental impacts, and ensure a more equitable distribution of tourism benefits.
With active involvement from frontline workers and local authorities, this initiative supports sustainable tourism by integrating cutting-edge technology with principles of social inclusion and environmental stewardship.
