The Pla de Sostenibilitat Turística de Barcelona project, funded by NextGenerationEU, aims to reduce the environmental impact of tourism in Barcelona, Spain, while enhancing visitor experiences. Running from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2025, the project plans to diversify the city's tourist attractions and promote new points of interest in less explored areas to alleviate congestion in the most visited places. Sustainability will be integrated as a core element of the tourist offerings, with the goal of creating a more resilient tourism sector that benefits both visitors and the local community (The original piece available only in Spanish).
