Données Plages already covered beach geolocation and characteristics, accessibility for people with reduced mobility, parking availability, and lifeguard duty schedules. The updated version added real-time access conditions, including car park occupancy, aimed at steering visitors toward less crowded beaches during the peak summer months now behind us.

As part of Smart Coast, GIP Littoral is sharing the tool with project partners to explore adapting it in other regions: O Grove and Bueu in Galicia, Cantabria in Spain, the Algarve and the Azores in Portugal, and the Southern Region in Ireland. Further actions to improve visitor management along the Atlantic coastline are planned through 2027.
