The campaign promotes five biosecurity measures particularly relevant for small farms and backyard flocks: controlling access to farms, maintaining cleaning and disinfection routines, preventing contact with wild birds, keeping poultry species separate, and recognising signs of disease early. Migratory wild birds most commonly enter the EU along its north-eastern and eastern borders, arriving from breeding areas in Russia's taiga and tundra zones from autumn onwards, and on poultry farms most infections have originated from indirect contact with these wild birds, making everyday biosecurity a central line of defence.

A communication toolkit, to be translated into all EU languages, includes infographics, posters, a video and ready-to-use social media materials for campaign partners to share within farming communities.
