The methodologies, adopted under the Carbon Removals and Carbon Farming (CRCF) Regulation, give farmers, foresters and land managers a harmonised, EU-wide framework to certify carbon farming activities and access new income from climate-beneficial land management. Beyond carbon removals, the covered practices support biodiversity, landscape resilience and long-term food and biomass security.

Certification schemes can now apply for recognition once the delegated act enters into force, based on minimum requirements set in Implementin Regulation 2025/2358. The methodologies followed a public consultation and input from the Commission's Expert Group on Carbon Removals.
