In November 2024, the WeNaTour project released a case study on Valsugana Lagorai in Italy, showcasing the destination's commitment to sustainable tourism. Developed by project partner Etifor in collaboration with the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences (CUAS) and Transilvania University of Brașov (UNITBV), this case study is presented as a fact sheet that provides insights into the region's sustainable tourism management and practices.

It highlights that Valsugana Lagorai is the first Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC)-certified destination in Italy (since 2019) and is renowned for prioritising the well-being of residents by initiating projects and services aimed at enhancing the local community's quality of life year-round. Some of these initiatives include "Adopt a Cow" ("Adotta una Mucca") and the "Young Ambassadors of the Territory and Mountains Project" ("Progetto Giovani Ambasciatori del Territorio e della Montagna").

For a detailed overview of this best practice, including the destination's vision, methods, success factors, lessons learnt, and future commitments, among other details, please follow the link provided on the left-hand side of the platform.
