BASF is the leader of the Digital Data Chain (DDC) Consortium consisting of more than 50 owner/operator, production equipment manufacturer and industrial service provider of the process industry. The mission of the DDC Consortium is to automate the handover of the digital twin of production equipment from the equipment manufacturer to owner/operator like BASF. To reach this aim the DDC Consortium triggers and supports the development of necessary ISO/IEC standards and fosters the spread of technologies based on these standards like the IEC 61406 - Identification Link. In parallel the DDC Consortium itself is the necessary ecosystem and nucleus for a successful implementation across all industries. The Digital Data Chain and the Asset Administration Shell (AAS) which is based on it, are already implemented solutions in the industry, that could also cover right now the technical requirements of the EU Digital Product Passport.
