The FIEC Statistical Report 2026 analyses construction activity in the European Union during 2025 and presents an outlook for 2026. According to the Report, construction investment declined in 2025, while a return to growth is forecast for 2026. The Report notes that construction markets continue to face challenges linked to financing conditions, investment levels and economic uncertainty.
The analysis shows that civil engineering remained the strongest segment, supported by investment in transport, energy and water infrastructure. Building activity is expected to improve gradually, while the pace and durability of recovery will depend on factors including public investment capacity, energy and material costs, administrative procedures, labor availability and company resilience.
