A further €150 million from the Council of Europe Development Bank brings the total programme to €300 million. Combined with an interest-rate subsidy from the Slovenian state, the programme will offer loans of up to 30 years to municipalities, public housing funds and non-profit housing associations, the main providers of public and non-profit housing in Slovenia. The long-term financing will support projects that may be difficult to fund under normal market conditions, while helping to keep rents affordable and allowing providers sufficient time to plan and obtain the necessary permits. All new housing units will be required to meet relevant sustainability requirements.
