The European Investment Bank (EIB), with support from the InvestEU Advisory Hub, will assist Greece in modernizing its public education infrastructure. This initiative focuses on enhancing energy efficiency, safety, and climate resilience in schools and university buildings. A pilot programme will upgrade 20 public schools across diverse climatic zones, laying the groundwork for a broader national "Green Schools" investment strategy.

The EIB is partnering with Greece’s Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports to prepare investments that modernize educational facilities and improve their environmental performance. The pilot targets 20 existing public schools, testing solutions to reduce energy use, improve comfort, and increase climate resilience across different regions.
The program will cover upgrades in heating, cooling, ventilation, fire safety, and accessibility. The insights gained will inform the extension of the initiative nationwide. Financing options, including a mix of grants and EIB loans, will be explored to fund these investments.
This collaboration aligns with the European Commission’s Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission and reflects the EIB’s broader commitment to supporting sustainable public infrastructure and improving quality of life through targeted advisory services.
