On 25 August 2026, BUILD UP published an article drawing on research from the LIFE ASSERT project, which examined the experiences of people with disabilities facing energy poverty in Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy and Spain. The findings are based on focus groups and interviews conducted across the participating countries.

The article explores the relationship between housing conditions, accessibility, energy affordability and disability-related needs during periods of high temperatures. Participants reported challenges related to overheating, inaccessible environmental controls and the cost of cooling their homes. The publication also presents findings that contributed to the development of training materials under the LIFE ASSERT project, intended to support stakeholders working on energy poverty, accessibility and building adaptation issues.
