Labor and skills shortages continue to affect the European construction sector. During a webinar organized by the Architects Council of Europe, participants emphasised that attracting more women to construction is important both for workforce development and for the long-term sustainability of the sector.
Examples presented during the discussion showed that new construction methods and emerging roles, including digital design and 3D construction printing, are creating new opportunities within the industry. Speakers also stressed the importance of improving retention, increasing visibility of female role models and creating more inclusive working environments to support greater participation of women across construction occupations.
