Statistik Austria’s most recent figures reveal that during the summer season of 2023, Austria was home to a total of 67,263 accommodation establishments, offering 1,378,353 bed places. Tyrol province stood out with the largest number of establishments, accounting for 32.1% of the total and 30.0% of the overall bed capacity. When looking at the types of accommodations, the ones with the most capacity were the 5-/4-star establishments, which comprised 20.9% of all bed places in the country. For more detailed and historical data, Austria’s National Statistical Institute (NSI), Statistics Austria, offers free access to regularly updated statistical databases. Users can download excel files or use the STATcube public database for a deeper exploration of the tourism industry sectors.
