In 2022, the EU Tourism Dashboard reported varying occupancy rates across EU destinations. The highest rates were observed in Cyprus (66.4%), Spain (58.5%), Croatia (55.4%), and Malta (54.4%). Conversely, Luxembourg (27.3%), Slovakia (30.4%), Czechia (33.0%), and Ireland (33.5%) had the lowest indicators. Interestingly, most EU countries did not reach pre-pandemic levels in 2022. In 2019, the correlation of values ranged from 30.9% in Luxembourg to 71.8% in Cyprus, with most countries having an occupancy rate over 50%. However, by 2022, this correlation shifted. Luxembourg’s rate dropped to 27.3%, while Cyprus remained high at 66.4%. Most countries now had an occupancy rate below 50%, signaling overcapacity and potential for growth to attract more demand.
