The latest EU Ecolabel figures published 15th April 2025, show that the EU Ecolabel breaks record, reaching an unprecedented level of success, with more than 102,000 products on the EU market across 25 different product groups. About 97% of its licences are granted to companies of the European Economic Area, and around 57% of licence holders are SMEs. Since September 2024, there has been an increase of 3% in the total number of products (+3 396 products) and 5% in the number of licences (+ 143 licences).

Active for 33 years, the EU Ecolabel has become the worldwide reference voluntary certification for green goods and services, strongly supported by the EU Member States, big market players such as Amazon and Booking.com and NGOs (EEB, BEUC). It allows companies of all sizes to stand out in a market where more and more consumers and producers are looking for sustainable options.

Tourist accommodation remains the leading product group in terms of awarded licences, with a total of 816 licences (+5% in respect to September 2024).

The number of EU Ecolabel Tourist accommodations on the market is now 837 (+38 in respect to September 2024).

Partial data available in March 2025 show that the large majority of EU Ecolabel tourist accommodation services are SMEs: of 678 EU Ecolabel holders that provided such information, 345 are micro-enterprises, 317 are small or medium enterprises and 16 are large enterprises. Additionally, 12 tourist accommodation services were awarded the label outside the EEA.

Countries with major increases are: FR (+19), DE (+11), SI (+6).

See below a graph with the distribution of the tourist accommodation per awarding Competent Body.
