The Eurostat article on tourism statistics reveals a significant recovery in the EU tourism sector, with 452.6 million nights spent in tourist accommodations in the first quarter of 2024, marking a 6.6% increase from the same period in 2023. Foreign visitors contributed to a 10.5% rise in nights spent, while domestic tourism saw a 3.5% increase. Notably, Luxembourg, Cyprus, Malta, and Croatia experienced the highest growth in tourism nights. Impressively, the number of nights spent in the first quarter of 2024 surpassed pre-pandemic levels from 2019, highlighting a robust post-pandemic recovery and growth in the sector.
