In 2023, inbound tourism significantly contributed to Greece’s GDP, accounting for 69.5% of all tourism contributions (EUR 19.8 billion). In contrast, domestic tourism contributed only 17.3% (EUR 4.9 billion). This marks a shift from 2019, when inbound tourism’s share was even higher at 76.5% (EUR 17.7 billion), and domestic tourism’s share was 12.0% (EUR 2.8 billion). This trend suggests a possible decrease in the market’s dependence on foreign tourism and an increase in interest and capacity for domestic tourism among Greek citizens. More detailed data can be found in the Greek Tourism Analytics Dashboard (GTAD) by the Institute of the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (INSETE), which is publicly accessible and can be tailored to individual needs.
