In the first quarter of 2024, Bulgarian citizens primarily spent on private trips, with the highest expenditures on food and accommodations domestically, and on food and transportation when traveling abroad.

In the first quarter of 2024, Bulgarian citizens spent a total of 599.5 million Levs on tourist trips. Over 92.9% of these expenditures were for private trips. Within Bulgaria, the majority of spending was on food (36.9% of all in-country expenditures) and accommodations (29.3%). Meanwhile, when traveling abroad, the largest share of expenses was also on food (32.2%) and transportation (30.0%). The National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria provides freely accessible and automatically updated detailed data, making it a valuable resource for exploring quarterly expenditure on tourist trips by the Bulgarian population.
