Sustainable textiles: The textile and clothing industry is facing major challenges

Seminar: Sustainability in Textile Engineering
This seminar provides a comprehensive introduction to sustainability in the textile industry, offering both foundational knowledge and insights into the latest technologies and developments. Participants will learn to evaluate recycling methods, confidently use technical terminology, and develop innovative strategies to foster sustainability within their organizations.
The program begins on September 24 with an evening kick-off event. A full-day in-person session follows on September 25 at the ITA in Aachen. In October, the learning continues with five online modules (each 90 minutes), offering practical, in-depth content.

Social change in relation to sustainability
- Social developments and effects on the industry 
- Relevance of sustainability in purchasing decisions
- Classification and definitions of terms Regulations & laws
- Upcoming EU regulations (Green Claims Directive, ESPR, CSDDD, etc.)

REACH seals and certification
- Government and private seals and certifications
- Classification of test criteria for products and companies

Alternative materials, biopolymers and their properties
- Definitions of biobased and biodegradable materials
