The Active2Public Transport (A2PT) project unveiled the results of its latest survey—the Danube Cycling Tourist Survey 2024—in February 2025, focusing on the integration of cycling tourism with public transport. Conducted between 18 September and 23 October 2024, it gathered insights from over 5,000 participants, enabling a direct comparison of cycling tourists’ perspectives and needs in the Danube region. The findings highlight opportunities to enhance cycling infrastructure and accessibility, particularly in connection with public transport.
The survey reveals a strong demand for improved links between cycling routes and public transport services, especially for long-distance and tourism-related travel. Developed in collaboration with the European Cyclists’ Federation, the research identifies key challenges, including limited options for transporting bicycles and inadequate intermodal planning.
