The OECD in Paris, France, released a research titled "The Blue Economy in Cities and Regions" on April 12, 2024. Drawing on a global survey of over 80 cities, regions, and basins, the report examines the costs and benefits of the blue economy at the subnational level. It underscores the connection between the blue economy and water security, and provides insights into multi-level governance and existing gaps. This report is crucial as it highlights the role of cities and regions in building resilient, inclusive, sustainable, and circular blue economies, essential for creating local jobs, preserving ecosystems, and tackling climate change.
