The Copernicus Climate Change Service released a report on 10 January 2025, highlighting significant global climate findings for 2024. The report indicated that global warming in 2024 surpassed the 1.5°C threshold set by the Paris Agreement, which aims to mitigate the risks and impacts of climate change. It also noted record-high levels of greenhouse gases and an increase in extreme weather events such as floods, heatwaves, and wildfires, emphasising the accelerating effects of human-induced climate change.
