Our commitment to a better world
Aspirational objective 2: Prevention and reduction of food loss and waste (at the consumer level, within internal operations, and across value chains)
With the following aspirational target:
A 50% reduction of per capita food waste at the retail and consumer level by 2030 and reduced food losses along the food production and supply chains in the EU.
Hilton Foods commitments:
Reduce food loss and waste within our factories by 50% by 2030 from a 2019 baseline as part of the Champions 12.3 10X20X30 initiative.
Aspirational objective 3: A climate-neutral food chain in Europe by 2050
With the following aspirational target:
Reducing net emissions from own operations, contributing to a 55% GHG emission reduction target in the EU food chain by 2030 (following a science-based approach).
Hilton Foods commitments:
We have committed to a long term target to reach net zero emission by no later than 2050, backed up by interim science-based targets across the entire value chain.
Our emissions reduction targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative are as follows:
1. Reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 25% by 2030. These are consistent with reductions required to keep warming to well below 2°C.
2. Reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased agricultural products by 12.3% by 2030. This is consistent with reductions required to keep warming to 2°c.
Aspirational objective 4: An optimised circular and resource-efficient food chain in Europe
With the following aspirational targets:
a) Improved resource efficiency within own operations, contributing to sustainable, efficient use and management of energy and natural resources in operations by 2030.
b) Improved sustainability of food and drink packaging, striving for all packaging towards circularity by 2030.
Hilton Foods commitments:
All our retail packaging will be fully reusable, recyclable or compostable by the end of 2022.
Only use 100% sustainably sourced paper and board (from FSC or PEFC sustainably certified forests) across all of our retail packaging globally.
Achieve a minimum of 50% average recycled content across all retail plastic packaging.
