The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has developed the Statistical Framework for Measuring the Sustainability of Tourism (SF-MST), an internationally agreed-upon framework. This framework, endorsed by the United Nations Statistical Commission in March 2024, is designed to be implemented globally. It provides a comprehensive structure for organizing and producing data on the economic, social, and environmental impacts of tourism. The SF-MST was disseminated through official UN publications and global consultations to ensure broad adoption.
